Well, if people were having problems commenting on the blog, there's a very good reason for that. I had set the thing to "moderation" mode, meaning a comment had to be approved before it would appear. Now it's off. Now, if I see infighting or whatnot in the comments section, and it gets to be more than deleting can handle, I will turn it back on. Don't make me do that, guys. D:

Yeah, so my computer isn't working...
Sometime last night, my computer decided it wasn't going to work any more. It won't start up fully. The light comes on, and I can hear noises like it's trying to do something. They seem to be coming from the box the power source is in, which tells me it's probably the power source. I can't get the box the thing is housed in to see.
In any case, that means I can't get online from that computer for awhile. It also means a lot of my stuff is gone until I can access it. Hopefully there's nothing wrong with those things.
This generally will seriously cut down on the possible time to spend in #mb. I'm going to have to drop things, until I can fix the computer.

Contradiction
The question has been raised as to how my and Alex's statements can be made at the same time and can still both be right..
Well, that's pretty simple.

If you want to continue to criticize loudly, go ahead, but you won't make much headway.
Now, I already described what I was talking about here. The fact of the matter is, you can get a rule changed if you come to one of the ops about it. And organize the argument for the change, in a respectable manner that high-school level, mature human beings are capable of.
To be honest, the way things have going lately, I'm not sure actually trying to bring it up in the chatroom is a good idea. It doesn't seem so useful for that lately.
I hope that just about clears it up. In short, to quote one of the ops: "If you're reasonable about them, we'll look into it. If you throw a temper tantrum, we'll ignore it"

I think that comes across pretty clear. But to be more specific, he's talking about ranting about it loudly and emotionally in the chatroom. It's drama-generating, and flame-generating, and it will get you nowhere.

Another thought
Anybody ever read the bottom of the rules pages? Both the silly and the standard one read "Suggestions welcome."
Nobody ever seems to take us up on that. Instead, we get snide remarks and comments that, while they might be rather true, are out of turn and really likely to get ignored.
When we say "suggestions welcome" we mean that if you have an idea for the rules, and you can provide a rationale for it, we'll listen and seriously consider changing it. Following a review of it, it might or might not change, depending on what we decide. More than likely, the decision will be noted somewhere that everyone can see it, much in the same way that rule changes are.

Speaking of rules...
The rules have been altered a bit to better define what we're considering "ignore" to be. It's a little sad that we have to define this, really.
There is likely there's more to come.
Note: From here on out, such changes, including big important ones, will be noted in the blog.

Ops and what not.
Okay folks. I'm going to say something so make sure this sticks.
The decision on who is an op and who is not is something that all the current ops decide on. Now keep in mind that the reason we are ops to begin with is because we meet the qualifications in maintaining the peace in the channel. Such qualifications include...
1) Showing you are willing and/or capable of maintaining peace in the channel (which includes enforcing the rules, whether you approve of them or not).
2) Contributing to the channel.
3) Exhibiting the behavior of someone who wants to help solve problems, not add to them.
Logic would dictate that if we (the current ops) find that you don't meet these requirements, you won't be getting a shiny @ next to your nick. And if you're offended by the fact that you don't qualify, don't be stupid and assume it's a plot to demean or attack you in anyway.
Now then...the rules.
The rules are put into place because if there wasn't order, we would be reverting back to the cesspool that so many people were sick of. People change and by proxy, the nature in which things go is also changed. Before the reforming, there was a damn good chance that I could've gotten a nice kick-ban if I so much as said a word to an op at the wrong moment. That's not the kind of place people want to be in. If you're in such a bad mood, would you be on a chatting program?
Oh wait. Misery loves company. It doesn't take a genius to know that.
Hence the addition of actual rules decided upon by the new ops of the equally new #megaband.
If you don't like the rules, you're free to say so. That's your right. People who don't have the authority often detest the ones who do and use it on them, regardless of the fact that it's their job to do so when they get uppity.
Just don't be a fucking douchebag and start questioning the qualifications of an op. Such an action shows that you aren't fit for the position to begin with.
Finally, ways to cope with the rules.
If you don't like them that badly, leave. Throw a hissy fit. Curse me to the ends of the Earth. Whatever.
With that said...

Attention!
This is the new news site for #megaband! Featured here will be information of note and perhaps anecdotes volunteered by the ops and users. The site supports Atom feeds, which can also be set up as live bookmarks that you can check on. Firefox supports RSS, as you can see by the icon in the bottom right corner of your window (if you're using it.) You can click that to make a live bookmark. Opera also supports RSS feeds. You can start them by clicking the 'RSS' icon in the address window. It doesn't work quite the same though; Opera uses a separate dialog for it.
In any case, we're all up for suggestions on how this page can be improved. Anyone among us with CSS knowledge is asked to help us out with designing a template. (Pretty please?)
